Our speaker is Vance Fry from <em>Crimestoppers</em>. His topic is <u>Legal Concerns of Elders</u>. Rear Admiral Fry is a native Chattanoogan and graduate of Central High School and the U. S. Naval Academy, serving a total of 35 years wearing the uniform as an active/reserve officer.</p> <p>Admiral Fry specialized in financial management and logistics during his Navy career, serving as commanding officer for a variety of units based in the Southeast. Upon selection to Admiral in 1987 he assumed command of the Navy’s Cargo Handling Force. He participated in Desert Storm and was selected to lead the Naval Reserve component in the Washington D. C. Victory Parade in May 1991.  He later commanded the newly established Expeditionary Logistics Support Force.</p> <p>He received his law degree from the University of Tennessee in 1980 and began his practice, specializing in estate planning, probate, elder law, as well as real estate and small business owners. He continues to practice law on a part time basis, while volunteering to provide free legal services to clients of area charities. In 2005 he was selected from 15,000 lawyers to receive the Tennessee Bar Association’s “pro bono lawyer of the year” for work providing legal services to the poor.  He is a Deacon in the Concord Baptist Church in Chattanooga.  He is also active in overseas church mission projects, and most recently participated in business and leadership workshops in Ukraine, China, Philippines, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Azerbaijan with various non- denominational mission groups.</p> <p>Please join us at the University Center Cafeteria for lunch around noon. We will have an ElderScholars sign prepared to place on our table in the cafeteria. Look for the sign for seating together! </p> <p>The official meeting starts at 1 P M. Parking is free in any UTC lot; be sure to place this letter on your dashboard indicating that you are attending the ElderScholars meeting. </p> <p>If you have any difficulty with ticketing, please take your letter and the ticket to the University "Police Station" which is at the top of the hill at the end of the street directly behind the <st1:place> <st1:placename>Student</st1:placename> <st1:placetype>Center</st1:placetype></st1:place>.
