About Hospice of Chattanooga

Hospice of Chattanooga began in 1981 as an all-volunteer agency. Today, it is the community's oldest, largest, non-profit United Way supported hospice. We are specialists in end-of-life care, with a full-time medical director and four physicians on staff who are certified in palliative medicine to manage pain and symptoms. Services provided by Hospice of Chattanooga include:

  • Regularly scheduled nurse visits
  • Personal care provided by Certified Nursing Assistants as needed
  • Nurse on-call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year
  • Social services to assist with problem management and family/patient needs
  • Education about the illness, what to expect as the disease progresses and how to cope
  • Medical equipment, supplies and medication related to the terminal illness
  • Short-term inpatient care for symptom control and/or family respite where medically necessary
  • Spiritual support and counseling
  • Volunteer support and assistance for the patient and caregivers
  • Bereavement support for loved ones after their loss

In addition, other ancillary services are available when required for palliation: Physical/Occupational Therapists, Registered Dietitian, and Speech Therapist
