Lantern Alzheimer's Center at Morning Pointe to Host Car Wash, Yard Sale and Virtual Dementia Tour
The Lantern Alzheimer’s Center at Morning Pointe at 9300 Messinger Lane in Collegedale is hosting a car wash, yard sale, and virtual dementia tour from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010. “This event has special meaning to our community as all proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk on September 18, 2010 at the Chattanooga State Community College,” said Dawn Dunn, program director for The Lantern. “We will have Collegedale Academy students, resident family members, staff family members, and passionate staff who work every day with our Alzheimer’s community who will be voluntarily devoting their day off to wash cars for this worthy cause. We encourage the public to come out, take advantage of this service we are providing, enjoy light refreshments, and look for things to buy such as furniture, clothes, puzzles, stuffed animals, and other miscellaneous items in the yard sale.” If you would like to donate items for the yard sale, they may be dropped off at The Lantern on Thursday, July 29. “The virtual dementia tour is interactive, taking you into the world of the Alzheimer’s patient, allowing you to briefly experience what their world is like,” said Tiffany Hobbs, executive director for The Lantern. “The tour takes about 30 minutes and is highly recommended for all caregivers.” For more information and to reserve your spot for the virtual dementia tour, please call Sandy at (423) 396-4700.
