Alexian Brothers Senior Ministries Offers a Full Calendar of Events for July
From fitness and educational opportunities to social and creative arts events, Alexian Brothers Senior Ministries offers many opportunities to help seniors stay healthy and active. July events include: Free Mini Massages Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors Soddy-Daisy Senior Center will offer free mini massages and a back, arthritis, knee and neck pain workshop Thursday, July 1 at 10 a.m. The senior center is located at 190 Depot Street in Soddy Daisy. Call (423) 332-1702 for more information. Ballroom Dance Lessons Need to brush up your ballroom dancing skills? Intermediate ballroom dance classes are offered each Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors building located at 250 East 10th Street. Classes are taught by Dennis Mullis of The Dance Floor dance studio. Class registration and tuition is required. Call (423) 755-6100 for more information. Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors Soddy-Daisy Senior Center Yard Sale Shop for bargains and enjoy the City of Soddy-Daisy’s Independence Day Celebration Saturday, July 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 190 Depot Street in Soddy Daisy. Flexibility and Balance Classes Flexibility and Balance classes are offered on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month (July 8 and 22) at 11 a.m. at the Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors building located at 250 East 10th Street. This fun and educational class will focus on muscle strengthening exercises for the legs along with coordination exercises that will help participants improve their posture and balance. Flexibility and Balance classes are free for Senior Neighbors members and $3 for nonmembers. Senior Neighbors’ membership is just $25/year. Free Cardiovascular Health Workshop and Blood Pressure Screening Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors Soddy-Daisy Senior Center will offer a free cardiovascular health workshop and blood pressure screening on Thursday, July 8 at 10:45 a.m. The senior center is located at 190 Depot Street in Soddy Daisy. Beginning Yoga A beginning Yoga class for seniors will be offered Wednesday, July 14, 21 and 28 at 2 p.m. at the Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors building located at 250 East 10th Street. The class is taught by a certified Yoga instructor. Attendees should bring their own yoga mat. Chair yoga positions are also demonstrated. Yoga classes are free for Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors members and $3 for nonmembers. Senior Neighbors’ membership is only $25/year. Ballroom Dance Party The Senior Neighbors Ballroom Dance Party is held on the fourth Thursday of each month (July 22) at 7 p.m. at the Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors building located at 250 East 10th Street. Admission is $5. Participants are asked to bring a plate of finger foods to share. Men’s Luncheon The Senior Neighbors Men’s Luncheon is held on the last Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors building located at 250 East 10th Street. The speaker for Tuesday, July 27 is Dawn Weber, Alexian Brothers Foundation Director. The cost of the luncheon is $8. Please call (423) 755-6100 by July 22 to RSVP. “Duck Hunter Shoots Angel” at the Cumberland County Playhouse Hailed by audiences as a comedy with a heartfelt message, the play “Duck Hunter Shoots Angel” follows the intersecting paths of the two guilt-ridden duck hunters, a depressed tabloid journalist, a half-man/half-alligator, and a ghost. The cost of the trip is $60. Alexian Brother Senior Neighbors’ members receive $5 off. Senior Neighbors’ membership is only $25/year. 7 Days and 6 Nights in Branson, Missouri This show-stopping trip includes 6 nights lodging, ten meals, a ride on the Showboat Branson Bell, and admission to seven shows, including: Tony Orlando, The Osmond Brothers Show, The Red Hot & Blue Show, The Brett Family Show, The Twelve Irish Tenors, and The Baldknobbers Jamboree Show. The trip will be October 31 through November 6 and is $800 for a single occupancy room, $620 for a double occupancy room, and $600 for a triple occupancy room.
