Volunteers Recognized by the Latern Alzheimer's Center and Morning Pointe Assisted Living
The Lantern Alzheimer’s Center and Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Collegedale worked jointly to host their third annual volunteer luncheon during National Volunteer Week. A total of 125 volunteers were treated to harp and brass music, elegantly prepared food, gifts and door prizes. This was a record-high attendance for the luncheon but only a small representation of the hundreds of warm-hearted people who bring smiles to peoples’ lives. The event was held at the community center in the Greenbriar Cove retirement community. “We are extremely appreciative of all our volunteers from the greater-Chattanooga area who regularly give of their time and talents to add to our life enrichment program for residents,” said Tiffany Hobbs, executive director of The Lantern. “It is very inspiring to see young and old people alike sharing their talents through singing, musical instruments, stories, games, arts and crafts, reminiscing, nature and slide shows, teaching, praying, and simply being a friend,” said Dawn Dunn, The Lantern’s program director. The Lantern Alzheimer’s Center at Morning Pointe is devoted to the care of Alzheimer’s and memory care disorders. It offers 32 apartments in a homelike setting with care providers who provide medical and holistic care-giving approaches. Morning Pointe of Collegedale at Greenbriar Cove is a 58-apartment assisted living residence offering a variety of services including 24-hour care and assistance with daily living.
