The Senior Olympics encourages older adults to stay active, and gives them a reason to renew past skills or learn new ones. Key goals are to: maintain and improve the health and wellness of Tennessee’s seniors, provide a competitive athletic, recreational and creative experience and to provide an opportunity for socialization for seniors from across the state. Medal winners from the district games will progress to the state games in Nashville in July 2010. 2010 is a qualifying year for the 2011 National Senior Games. 2010 state winners will be eligible to compete in the 2011 National Senior Games to be held in Houston, Texas from June 19-July 5.
