Dr. John Garrett to Speak at ElderScholars Meeting February 9

The February, 2010, ElderScholars meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 9th in the Lookout Mountain  Room of the University Center.

The speaker will be Dr. John R. Garrett, University of Chattanooga Foundation Professor of Economics at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  Dr. Garrett specializes in macroeconomics and monetary economics.  He graduated from Bucknell University and has his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts. 

Dr. Garrett’s research papers cover several fields, including financial market structure, financial regulation, monetary theory, monetary history, and defense spending.  His papers have appeared in the Review of International Business, the Cambridge Journal of Economics, the Research Series of the International Monetary Fund, and the Journal of Economic History. His work also has included monographs from the World Bank and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and other journals.

Please join us at the University Center Cafeteria for lunch around noon. We will have an ElderScholars sign prepared to place on our table in the cafeteria. Look for the sign for seating together!

The official meeting starts at 1 P M. Parking is free in any UTC lot; be sure to place this letter on your dashboard indicating that you are attending the ElderScholars meeting.

If you have any difficulty with ticketing, please take your letter and the ticket to the University "Police Station" which is at the top of the hill at the end of the street directly behind the Student Center. They should be able to handle it without difficulty.
