Alexian Brothers Senior Ministries to Help Seniors Stay Safe on the Road with Driving Class at Senior Neighbors Thursday, January 21
Senior Neighbors, an Alexian Brothers ministry, is scheduled to host an AARP refresher course on driver safety in an effort to encourage seniors to stay safe on the road. The class will be held Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors building at 1000 Newby Street (corner of 10th and Houston streets) in downtown Chattanooga. To register call Senior Neighbors at (423) 755-6100. The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest refresher course of its kind. The course will cover a variety of important topics, including how seniors can enhance their driving skills and update their knowledge on current rules of the road. Attendees will learn how they can reduce their risks of receiving traffic violations, crashes and chances for injuries. Senior drivers going through normal age-related physical changes will learn how to adjust their driving to help keep them safe. Many insurance companies offer a discount to those who complete the course. Course participants should check with their insurance company to learn if a discount is available. Senior Neighbors welcomes all interested seniors, age 50 and older, to sign up for this upcoming class. Attendees are asked to bring a bag lunch.
