Thursday, September 22nd, Senior Neighbors will host a trip to the Button Willow Dinner Theater in
Whitwell,
Tennessee. Don’t miss one of the top five attractions in the
Chattanooga area chosen by the Travel channel! Cost is $48.00 and includes: lunch, Civil War theater performance and charter bus transportation. Bus pickup available at
Newby Street and Soddy Daisy Senior Neighbors locations.
Monday, October 19th through Friday, October 23rd, Senior Neighbors will host a bus trip to
Savannah,
Jekyll
Island and
Charleston. The trip includes dinner at Paula Deen’s Lady and Sons restaurant and much more. The trip is $415 for a double occupancy room and $515 for a single person room. RSVP deadline is August 13th.
Monday, November 23rd, join Senior Neighbors on a trip to see the world’s largest animated light extravaganza in
Lake Lanier,
Georgia. You will see over six miles of twinkling, Christmas light displays and a live nativity scene - complete with live actors and animals! Cost is $40 and includes: entrance to the light show, buffet meal and charter bus transportation.
Plan to spend December 5 through 13th in
San Antonio,
Texas! This 9 day and 8 night trip includes 14 meals, a guided tour of

August 28 through September 7, 2010, Senior Neighbors will be experiencing
Alaska by land, air and sea! Spend 11 days and 10 nights marveling at the beauty of

Atlanta, train fare, port charges, fees and taxes. Passport is required. Book by September 30, 2009 with only a $100 deposit! Book after September 30, 2009 with just $550 deposit!

Senior Neighbors, a ministry of Alexian Brothers, was founded nearly 50 years ago here in Chattanooga by Ginny Power. Designed to help seniors in our area age successfully, Senior Neighbors provides vocational, social, mental, spiritual and physical opportunities for seniors at four community centers. Membership to Senior Neighbors is just $25 a year and includes the following programs and events:
- 3 Senior Centers in downtown Chattanooga and 1 in Soddy Daisy with activities Monday through Friday of each week
- The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) which places volunteers with non-profit agencies in the Chattanooga area
- The Chattanooga District Senior Olympics
- The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) which places qualifying older adults in paid temporary community service positions with local non-profit agencies and government organizations
- Scenic City Chorale and Senior Neighbors Orchestra
- Computer, art, Bible, foreign language, dance and tai chi classes
- Monthly men’s luncheon featuring a different speaker each month
- Day and overnight bus trips
- Open computer lab
- Health and wellness screenings
- The Prime Timers Career Expo – an annual career fair and workshop expo exclusively for seniors
- Monthly book club
Although some activities require an extra admission charge, most are available to seniors with only the yearly membership fee.
